Who We Are

There are a number of things that set us apart from the many other companies that specialize in city walking tours.  I have listed them here.   

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: As the managing owner of the company I have over 30 years of experience working in Salem tourism.  From before I even graduated high school, local history and folklore and sharing it has always been one of my biggest passions.  In that time I have hungrily gained more knowledge of our history, culture, and diversity.  

FAMILY HISTORY:  That’s right.  With over 130 ancestors traced to the earliest settlers to the North Shore, and almost 200 more to first settle in Canada, I am not just sharing the history of a region, I am sharing over 400 years of my ancestors and relatives.  If genealogy is your thing, we are the company for you.   

HONESTY & INTEGRITY:  Let’s be honest… There are a lot of tour companies in Salem that share a lot of inaccurate history.  For some, they just don’t care… They want to make an easy buck so they will tell you whatever you want to hear.  For others they just have done their history based on disproven information and have not bothered to update their tours accordingly.  I make sure all the information I share is up to date.  As a history obsessed person I am always looking for exciting new updates or new discoveries that may have been made.  History is never ending research, and so as long as I live, I  will strive to know more.  

UNSCRIPTED:  There are a number of reasons I only offer small tours in Salem.  Every tour I offer is completely unscripted.  Everything I share with my guests comes from years of endless research, but also from over 30 years of different questions from the thousands and thousands of guests I have had.  Over the years I have noticed that people tend to ask a lot more questions in smaller groups and that is something I always like to encourage.    I tend to lead my tours in a conversational way, so I like to help people feel comfortable enough to be involved.
